Welcome to Stephenson!

To all of the incoming freshers for 2023/2024 we firstly want to say a big CONGRATULATIONS! Getting into Durham is an amazing achievement and Stephenson is so excited to have you joining our College community. 

As your Frep Leadership Team, we have been spending the summer ensuring your first week as a Stevo Ranger is one you’ll never forget. A whole team of Freps will be on hand for the duration of your first week to run events and be your first port of call for any questions. Freshers Week at Durham is unlike Freshers Week at any other University, and this year you can expect a fun-filled week of activities - the timetable is available below! Of course it wouldn’t be a Durham Freshers Week without traditions such as matriculation and formals (see the 2023 Fresher’s Handbook for more information on these). 

You’ll probably see lots of links in the run up to Freshers Week for Freshers events tickets, please don’t buy them. These are NOT affiliated with the University and every college offers an entire week of fun-filled events specifically for their freshers – wristband purchase is open - you can purchase one either at the reduced JCR member price or the non-JCR member price.

PURCHASE YOUR FRESHERS WRISTBAND AND COLLEGE MEMBERSHIPS

You can purchase everything you need for Freshers week and beyond on Stephenson’s Durham ECommerce site.

JCR (OR MCR) MEMBERSHIP

You can buy your JCR (or MCR for postgraduates) membership before arriving at Durham! Purchasing this membership enables you to get a discounted Freshers Wristband, as well as discounts on various college events from the Winter and Summer Balls to Christmas Parties, Stevo Day and Oktoberfest. It also enables you to run for officer positions later in your student life, attend our societies and get involved with various activities run by the JCR. FRESHERs WRISTBAND

Make sure to purchase your Freshers Wristband to get entry to all of the amazing events that Stephenson College JCR have organised for you throughout Freshers Week 2023. This includes daytime activities such as football zorbing, relaxing crafts and a scavenger hunt and evening activities such as club nights, a casino royale night and a ghost walk. Don’t purchase any other Freshers ticket - these won’t be affiliated with the University or Stephenson College.

You can purchase Gym Memberships for the Walker Gym (our own, new gym based in the Walker accommodation block), the Howlands Gym (a shared Gym with Josephine Butler College), or both. You will get a reduced membership price if you are a JCR Member! Find out more about the Gyms on the Gyms page.
