Collegiate System

The collegiate system is a factor that makes Durham one of the best universities in the country. The college will be like your family at university, which localises all aspects of college life whilst still allowing you to immerse yourself in everything Durham has to offer! For example you can play sports and join societies in a relaxed environment with your college, but you can also join university clubs too. From the Students’ Union perspective, having 17 individual colleges with individual JCR committees allows each and every student to have their voice represented. We also like to hold intercollegiate sports matches, events, and socials to encourage you to meet and socialise with students from other colleges.
